Administration Joomla! 5.x • Unable to Select Category Field Group in Edit Field - Joomla 5

I'm encountering an issue in Joomla 5 where I'm unable to select a Field Group for Categories when editing a field. Here’s the situation:

• Creating Field Groups for Categories: I have successfully created a Field Group and specified it as a "Category" type using the dropdown menu available in the Field Group overview. The Field Group correctly appears under the "Categories" tab in the Field Group list and does not appear under "Articles," which is expected behavior.

• Issue with Selecting Field Group in Edit Field: The problem arises when I try to assign this Category-specific Field Group to a field in the Edit Field view. Despite creating the Field Group specifically for Categories, it does not show up in the "Field Group" dropdown menu when I am editing a field. As a result, I am unable to assign the Field Group to any fields intended for categories.

Steps I Have Taken:

• I have ensured the Field Group is published and has the correct settings.

• I've cleared Joomla’s cache multiple times and checked all user permissions to ensure I have full administrative rights.

• I’ve tried creating both new fields and editing existing fields, but the Category-specific Field Group still doesn’t appear in the dropdown menu for selection.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, or does anyone have any insights into why this might be happening? Is there a specific configuration or setting that I might be missing that would allow the Field Group to appear in the dropdown when editing a field?
