I have a Joomla4 installation. When somebody tries to register for an account, they get an error: An error was encountered while sending activation notification email. The account is created, but no email is sent.
We are hosted with Siteground and are using smtp.office365.com.
In Joomla global configuration, if the email setting is PHP, a test email goes through successfully. If I change it to the smtp setting, it fails.
The user registration is set to YES to self register, however, I have CSS display:none to hide the create an account link on the login page.( For testing purposes, I just disable the css setting with Inspector). I mention this in case it has any bearing on the issue.
How do I fix the activation email not being sent.
